Learn how to aid common symptoms of stress and tension without drugs, including headache, muscle aches;
eyestrain, nausea, cold symptoms, menstrual cramps, neck and shoulder tension, tendonitis, etc. Quick,
simple two-point combinations that can be done anywhere, anytime! Open to everyone. FREE!

The Acupressure Facial
Learn a simple technique to stimulate the acupressure points of the face, head, neck and shoulders for
yourself or for clients.  On the physical level, these points release muscle tension and increase circulation to
the skin and scalp, much like a typical facial treatment, but without the need for creams and lotions. In
addition, people often find relief from headaches, eyestrain, sinus problems, and neck and shoulder
problems.  On an energy level, the points are said to open the "Windows of the Sky" to the circulation of
Heaven (air) and Earth (food essence) energies, reestablishing the balance of essential life force, or Qi,
throughout the whole body.  This is experienced as a whole body sense of physical ease and harmony.
Developed originally by Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, founder of Jin Shin Do® Bodymind Acupressure® for
beauticians (it uses only points on the face, head, neck, arms and hands), the twelve easy steps can also be
used by non-professionals for self-care. The Acupressure Facial is also a favorite of professional body workers.
Ask about continuing education credits or NCBTMB and NCCAOM.

This course illustrates how the discoveries of western science validate Chinese medicine. It is a great
introduction to Chinese medicine for western-style practitioners and a foundation in western science for
eastern-style practitioners. This course satisfies the requirement of 100 hours of A&P for the AOBTA. It also
has been reviewed by the NCCAOM and will be accepted for PDA's (Professional Development Activities)
for diplomates. We are also working on the application for the NCBTMB to make this course accepted for
PDAs the next time it is offered.

Because the TendinoMuscular Meridians run through the fascia and nourish the skeletal muscles, they are
particularly useful for healing structural problems and injuries.  Because we engage the Qi, this powerful
work takes little effort from the practitioner and is ideal for treating traumatized tissue. Chinese texts
prescribe them for “pain or stiff, strained or twisted muscles along the course of the channel. Also, work with
these channels often results in “unwinding” of tension. We will explore the meridians with techniques from
Jin Shin Do® and Shiatsu that can be incorporated into sessions and also given to clients for self-treatment.

Gifted healing practitioners know that the most effective work enlists the client in their own healing process,
whether it is physical, emotional or spiritual. Awareness and insight give the client the power to improve
their well-being outside as well as inside the treatment room. Learn techniques to help your clients get
"back in touch" with themselves through relaxation, breathing, visualization and mindfulness; learn ways to
respond when emotions surface through active listening and body focusing; learn how to facilitate your
clients' translation of the "treasure messages" carried in physical sensation and give them techniques for
identifying and amplifying wellness.
This course is required for JSD practitioner training.
